Boids

 "northern cardinal"

 "nuthatch"

"chicken"

So I've really gotten into birding as of late. North Carolina had bunches of them, woodpeckers, northern cardinals, red hawks, nuthatches, brown thrashers, cat birds, blue jays, blue birds, robins, the list goes on. Hawai'i, not so much. Mainly mynahs, red crested cardinals, chickens, pigeons (oh excuse me, "rock doves"), zebra doves, spotted doves, and more doves. The entertainment here is not seeing what different kinds of birds come to the feeder but how quickly the java sparrows/finches can empty it.

Koko Head Kittehs

As we drove up to Koko Head for a predawn hike we encountered hundreds of feral cats. It reminded me of Mark Twain's "Letters from the Sandwich Islands"
"I saw cats--Tom cats, Mary Ann cats, long-tailed cats, bobtail cats, blind cats, one-eyed cats, walleyed cats, cross-eyed cats, gray cats, black cats, white cats, yellow cats, striped cats, spotted cats, tame cats, wild cats, singed cats, individual cats, groups of cats, platoons of cats, companies of cats, regiments of cats, armies of cats, multitudes of cats, millions of cats, and all of them sleek, fat, lazy, and sound asleep."
 Also a mynah bird.

Dog beach

Hickam Flats : acrylic on wood panel : 24x24

Here's the beach where the dogs and I go to contemplate life and meet fun new friends to dig with.

She's baaaack....

Wow so it's been ages since I posted anything, it's really dusty in here and the cobwebs are totally out of control. So, I was lying in bed early this morning listening to a story on NPR about Bill Watterson and got quite mellon collie (hmmm sounds like something Linda would illustrate, is it a fruit or a dog, woof).
I missed my blog and my kitty-muse. Nothing concrete has kept me away just your run-of-the-mill ennui. So I said to myself, self your hubby is away again and it's a good opportunity to resurrect HubReHoTDa like the zombie-vampire that it is. HubReHoTDay is Husband Returns Home for Turkey Day day. While not even close to being a month away hopefully it'll put the pepper in my pants that I need to get back at it.
Okay so my first doodle. This past summer we moved again, here's a doodle of where we are living now.
