Columbia Pike Artist Studios' open house

For those in the Northern Virginia area the Columbia Pike Artist Studios' annual Gala is coming up Sat., November 12 at 6 pm, and--this is a first--an additional opening the next day from 2:00-5:00.  Meet the artists (including my dear friend and fabulous artist, Kimberly Murphy-Lyons), see/purchase local art, wine, hors d'oeuvres, fun.

illustration friday - scary

Scary -- I'll show you scary. This little guy was more frightening than Paranormal 3. I was sitting in bed reading (okay I admit I had popcorn too) when this fuzzball came scurrying in. We both took one look at each other and our screams were harmonizing like Simon and Garfunkel. He fled into my studio and I think has taken up residence inside my Barbie dream house (yes I still have it).

The next day I was re-potting one of my poor plants and this guy jumped out of the potting soil bag, there goes another ten years.

Happy Halloween everyone!!

illustration friday - fuel

I'm being super green today by recycling an illustration I've already recycled. Here we are at our refueling station.

Mouse update: While I didn't get a new kitty (yet) I did duct tape up all the little crawl space doors (portals to another universe perhaps) and have been "clean" for a week now. Yay! While I know the little critters are still in da'house at least they're not crawling around inside my shoes.

duct tape kitty

So my passive solution to the mouse problem in my house is to duct tape all the little crawl space doors (not sure if they're portals to another universe or just the plumbing). So far this tactic has worked. I know mice are smart so I'm sure they'll find another way into the house so they can use my computer to surf the Web while I sleep.

illustration friday - scattered

My focus has been a bit scattered as I try to figure out how to rid our house of mice that moved in after our basement flooded. I don't know how to separate the cute disney version of them from the icky rodent version of them, I want them gone but hate to kill them.

illustration friday - contraption

For the past month I have been battling a mouse problem in our house and all I could think of for this week's word was a Rube Goldberg type contraption solution.

A: give the dog a cookie B: happy dog wags his tail pulling string C: string pours coffee into mug D: mug overflows spilling coffee E: sponge soaks up coffee expanding F: sending wiffle ball up string G: string slackens closing shoebox on mouse... Or I could just get a cat.
